If I were to ask you to sit down and write 37,261 words about what you’ve been learning from God (or about anything for that matter), would that seem just a little overwhelming? I’m going to guess your answer is…YES! VERY OVERWHELMING! But here’s the deal…I did exactly that recently and here’s how:
To say that I wrote 37,261 words about what God has been teaching me RECENTLY is a little misleading. I did do a couple hundred today. But now, half-way through the year of 2009, I’ve written 37,261 words in my daily journal.
This has got me thinking. What do I want to do in my life that seems a little overwhelming…but will certainly not ever happen if I don’t get started??? Sometimes I don’t even try to do something because it just seems too big or too much or too something. Little by little, however, I can do something that becomes rather significant. By writing a couple hundred words a day, I’ve now written over 37,000! (BTW-I didn’t count them, it’s on the bottom of my Word document. I’m not stupid!)
You’ll need to make this personal for you, but here’s my thought of the day:
Being more like Jesus is just a bit overwhelming isn’t it? Being exactly like Him in every way is so over the top crazy that maybe I’m tempted to not even try. But, being IN HOT PURSUIT of Jesus is a daily thing. What is the one thing I can do next…..that is like Jesus? It doesn't have to be a big thing. But they do add up.
Little by little, God will shape and mold me into the likeness of His Son. That’s His plan for my life and yours!
God knew what he was doing from the very beginning. He decided from the outset to shape the lives of those who love him along the same lines as the life of his Son. Romans 8:29 (TM)
And that takes TIME! Thank you God for being patient with me!!
