It’s the first thing you see when you first come to our website: BAGGAGE WELCOME. Those two words quickly sum up the heart of Jesus’ invitation.
Eugene Peterson, in The Message, shares Jesus’ words with his own unique style:
“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you'll recover your life. I'll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won't lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you'll learn to live freely and lightly.” -Matthew 11:28-30
This weekend I asked people to raise their hands if they started to attend Community in the last 12 months. Several raised their hands…and I received this email the next day:
…we raised our hands yesterday in church thinking that we have been attending for 12 months or less...when I did the math in my head, I think that we actually just passed up the one year mark! I can't begin to tell you how happy that we are to have found you and Community. If it weren't for this place being a "dangerous church" I don't know that the past year would have been filled with as much change, drive, hunger, and beauty in the lives of our family.
We’re changing things around here…but more important than any change we make to a logo, website, mission statement or letterhead…we want to see LIVES CHANGING. And that happens best when people meet Jesus.
We want Community to be the kind of place that reflects Jesus’ heart, the kind of place anyone can come to…Baggage and All!

The new website and logo are winners! Great design Matt. You too Stephanie. And, John, I'm glad you listened to Matt and wrote that first blog (and subsequent ones). Each have been thoughtful and just plain ol' good! Makes the site so personal and real, especially when you read comments from the family and your replies.
For what it's worth: I want a COLOR logo for my car too.
Thanks Julie, your comments mean a lot...especially since you have a graphic design/publication background. I really appreciate all you do around here! -John
PS-WE'LL LOOK INTO COLOR CUBES for the cars:)
I love the new logo, web site, program. I like the fact that you're not afraid to take risks and shake things up a bit. It's always good to get a new perscective on things.
This is a perfect way for my out of state family to see why we love our church. Love it. Thanks
