Change

Change

Here at the church we’re in the process of a complete overhaul. Our series, “Community’s Extreme Makeover” is all about the changes we’re going through.

These changes are necessary and timely. In our pursuit of having more clarity and simplicity in our structure, we’re making changes that we feel God has clearly led us to after a year of study, prayer and dozens of discussions. But before we discuss how these changes are going to help us be more effective in our mission, we need to talk about what’s NOT CHANGING.

In our WHAT WE BELIEVE section we share a list of things we call our “Essentials”. This list represents what never changes. Actually, in a world that is in constant flux, it’s secure knowing that God doesn’t change. He is the same yesterday, today and forever! So when we talk about changing the way we say things, like a mission statement, we’re never going to change our mission as Jesus laid it out for us.

Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” -Matthew 28:18-20

Making disciples is exactly what we want to do. What we have to figure out is the most effective way to do that in our culture, in our time, right here in our own valley. The methods are going to change, but the mission never does.

Jason-We'll have to "approve" your driving record before we let you slap the CUBE on your truck! -John

Are the cubes for the vehicles going to be available in any other color other than white??

Reason I ask is because I drive a suburban and have the windows wrapped with my Avon business logo and info and cannot put it on my windows. I thought if it came in another color, I could put it on the truck's quarterpanel portion (which is white so the others would not show). Let me know. I would love to represent our church also.

Dee-The "cube" is going to be white for now, but we'll look into color options. -John

I WAS TAUGHT FROM STAR TREK THAT THE CUBE IS BAD. REMEMBER THE "BORG"! WHERE ON OUR LOGO IS ANYTHING THAT SHOWS A CROSS, DOVE, BIBLE, OR ANY CHRISTIAN SYMBOL? JUST WOULD LIKE TO SEE SOMETHING THAT SHOWS WE ARE A "CHRISTIAN CHURCH" BESIDES COMMUNITY CHRISTIAN CHURCH UNDER THE LOGO.

Some have asked why we don't have a cross or some other Christian symbol as a part of our church logo. To start with, our cube is really an arrangement of the 3 C's of Community Christian Church. We specifically wanted an image that would create curiosity. If a cross were the primary aspect of our logo, then people don't need to ASK. We want the conversation. Whether on a rear window, a t-shirt or whatever, we wanted to have something that was fresh and appealing and that would ultimately create an opportunity to explain who we are. And more importantly who Jesus is.

And by the way Bryan, I don't rememeber the Star Trek "CUBE"...although on The Transformers, everyone wanted the "CUBE"...especially the aliens!

    John

Your right! We need to show the world "or our town" that the power in our "CUBE" is Jesus Christ. Thanks for the answer and thanks for letting me poke some fun.

Well, here I am...blogging...something I thought I would never be doing. I thought it was a little pointless until now. Sharing our ideas about John's messages, our walks with God and how we accepted Jesus into our lives is so important. I've been coming to CCC for going on 7 years. Our church has done some amazing things during that time, but this is by far the most forward thinking and awesome. Good going to everyone involved.

And...it's all done to connect others to God and Jesus!!!

about the cube (now y'all are gonna' know the extent of my brain damage) - when i look @ it i see the initials "JC" - does that work for you, Bryan?

About the cube (i.e. Bryan Gotts post)…

Although the Borg are bad, you really have to look at exactly what they do. They work as one collective (or one body) to assimilate (or convert) the universe. They would stop at nothing to spread their “message”. They truly have died to there old self, and embraced their new life in the collective. Although we should take a much softer approach then them, there are some solid comparisons that can be draw from this analogy.

OK! Last thing from me. Joni has her cube on her car. So could I now say her CUBE has become a "KLINGON"?

You now see Joni married me for my dumb jokes!
