Christmas gifts worth giving…1

Christmas gifts worth giving…1

We’ve all seen the shiny, batteries-not-included, latest and greatest toys at Christmas time. They get played with for a day or two and then wind up on the bottom of a cluttered closet. As a parent we can get a little frustrated with the whole thing because, after all, we paid good money for that stuff. So, from now until Christmas actually arrives, I want to invest some of my blog time in talking about the gifts that are really worth giving. And here’s the good news…some of them DON’T COST ANYTHING!

I doubt this will be the only time I mention this one, but I came across something this morning in my own devotional time in a place I least expected to find something relevant for Christmas. But there it was. It jumped off the page and grabbed a hold of me. It was in a tiny little letter in the New Testament called Philemon. Here’s what I discovered.

I pray that you may be active in sharing your faith, so that you will have a full understanding of every good thing we have in Christ.  -Phil 1:6-7 (NIV)

Go back and read it again. Do you see the FREE GIFT you can give others? Did you also notice that when you give this FREE GIFT away, you receive something pretty significant?

When we “actively share our faith” (the gift) we receive a “full understanding of every good thing we have in Christ.” How amazingly cool is that???

So let me say it again today…Grab your Christmas Eve Invitation Cards this weekend and start handing them out. As you share with your friends this personal invitation, you ARE sharing your faith. It’s small, but it’s a start. In return…and this is so amazing…you’ll gain a fuller understanding of every good thing you have in Christ!

Take a moment and make a different Christmas list…not of the people you need to BUY for, but the people you want to share God’s gift with this Christmas.
