Christmas gifts worth giving…3

Christmas gifts worth giving…3

We’re inching closer and closer to Christmas. Actually, it’s difficult to think of Christmas in terms of one day. It really is a “season”. So, today I want to share another Christmas gift worth giving that you don’t have to wait for the 25th to share…or, you can!

WARNING: This gift idea is not FREE. It will cost you some cash.

It seems those getting worked harder and abused more frequently during this season are our restaurant servers. I suggested this a couple of months ago, but I think it would be powerful to leave an UNUSUALLY LARGE TIP for your server on or right around Christmas.

Maybe you’ll go out to eat after our Christmas Eve Services. Great. What a powerful statement of God’s love you could make to a worn out waitress or waiter who’s not been able to be with their family.

If a 20% tip is the standard for good service, what would your server think if your tip was 50%? Better yet, drop them a “Benjamin” (that’s a $100 bill) after eating a $30 meal. OR….why stop at $100?

You may or may not know them. You may or may not know their “situation”. But, why not just bless the socks off them? How much fun would it be to leave a couple hundred extra dollars and say, with a big smile on your face, “keep the change!”

If they ask WHY? Just let them know you’re a part of a church that seriously believes in God’s love and you just wanted to share that love in a tangible way with them this Christmas.

“It is more blessed to give than to receive.” -Jesus (Acts 20:35b)

What a wonderful suggestion! I will tell you, as a server, the grumpys are starting to come out even more right now as the holidays grow closer. You would think people would be merry around this time of year, but it seems they are miserable.I can take the rude comments and the beat downs because my hope and my comfort comes from Jesus Christ and because I work for the Lord, not the mean ol' customers.(Their are plenty of wonderful customers as well)I can not say the same for all my co-workers,some of them already feel beaten down by life and it is sometimes heartbreaking to watch. For them, this would be so wonderful! Also, maybe just remember your servers name on the way home and pray for them, their are so many struggling right now. Thanks John for encouraging us to get out and do and not sit on the side lines and wait till someone else does.:)

Actually, "John" is fine. Even "plain ole, run of the mill, over the hill John" works!

Seriously, thanks Maegan for the "servers perspective". We've had several throughout the years who have told me how BAD, MEAN and GRUMPY the CHURCH people are on Sundays. I think this might be a start to change their perspective about those who are seriously sold out to Christ!!!
