Community meets Community

Community meets Community

What would happen if we got a couple hundred of this valley’s most influential people to come to our facility for a dinner?

The annual awards ceremony for Man of the Year, Woman of the Year, Business of the Year, etc. happened right here at Community last night. This annual event is put on each year for the leaders of our valley by the Chamber of Commerce. The past several years this event has happened up at the Ramona Bowl. There is no view in town like it. But for a “black tie optional” event, the bowl can be quite warm until the sun goes down after eight o’clock. People received our A/C with smiles on a day that was well over 100 degrees.

But here’s what was so special to me. Years and years ago, in many places, the church was not just the spiritual center of a community; it was the social center of a community. People ate, laughed, played, networked and encouraged each other. The town hall was the church. As a culture, we’ve really gotten away from that, but it was fun to see it all come together again last night.

I have to wonder how God will continue to use Community to encourage this community in the months and years to come.
