Something really special happened at our men’s breakfast Saturday morning. We had asked Police Chief Dana to come and fill us in our what’s going on in our valley from his unique perspective. (We do this from time to time to have a better view of how to pray for our valley.) Today was going to be no different...until...
Friday morning, I got a link to a news report sharing that Chief Richard Dana was on medical leave as of Thursday. The new acting chief is Dave Brown. Not knowing who would show up, I came to the breakfast with some real interest in what might happen.
God’s hand was on the entire group of guys that showed up. Dave Brown was very open about his faith and his desire to really care for the people under his watch. He patiently and specifically answered tons of questions. Throughout his presentation and our Q & A time he mentioned how much he needed our prayers about a half dozen times.
When Chief Brown wrapped up the Q & A, I asked the guys to gather around him. We came together as a group and laid hands on the Chief and prayed for him. This was very powerful and meaningful for all of us. I know it meant a lot to Dave Brown, because he said so.
As the entire morning unfolded, it became evident to me that God’s hand was on the entire thing. Less than 48 hours after being thrust into this very critical position, Chief Brown was surrounded by the men of Community and covered in our prayers.
Thank you God for taking over our breakfast!

If you weren't there you missed out on a great time of fellowship with God and other men. I walked out of there with my spirit renewed. God spoke to me and said that there is going to be something big happening with the men of our church and the Valley. This article was passed out yesterday. I want to be a spiritual warrior. Wow, the breakfast was awesome!!
I was sitting in the row behind Pastor John, to the right of Chief Brown listening to him talk about his walk with God, learning we now have a Spiritual Warrior as Head of our Police Dept. and was thinking to myself; we gotta lay hands on this guy!
Just then, Chief Brown finished his Testimony and Pastor called for us to lay hands on him.
What an awesome prayer Pastor!!! there wasn't a dry eye in the room.
The Hand of God was there and I am glad to be a part of such an awesome group of Men.
Also, thanks to all of the guys who set up, cooked, and who were cleaning the Grounds! We appreciate it a lot.
Wow! I am so sorry I missed this (out of town on family vacation). Thank you for sharing this. I will remember to pray for Chief Brown and the rest of the Hememt PD as well as Riverside County Sheriff's that serve in our valley.
