Prayer in (FOR) School

Prayer in (FOR) School

Someone once said, “As long as there are tests, there will be prayer in school.” Our valley’s school districts are going through a difficult time right now...a TEST if you will. So, it’s time to pray!

I want to challenge you to specifically pray about a couple of things throughout this week that relate to those who work hard to make this valley a great place to live. We’re starting with our schools.

In Hemet and San Jacinto, pink slips have already been handed out to teachers because there is a lack of funds available to pay for all the current positions. These cut backs affect a lot more than the teachers. Other district employees have already lost their jobs while others hang in the balance.

If you’d like, we can specifically pray for you. This prayer initiative is really about all the families involved and especially the kids in our schools.  This blog is not a place to air your grievances on this subject, but is a place for anyone who wants prayer to be prayed for.

If you’re a teacher or district employee, simply put your name in the comment section below and what school or district office you are a part of. (For those of you reading this in your email or blog reader, you’ll need to click on the title to come back to the website in order to add your name to the list.)

You can also forward this to anyone you’d like so that more people from the school districts can be specifically prayed for.

Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. - 1 Peter 5:7 (NIV)

I would like to pray for the 10 counselors in the Hemet USD that got pink slips on Friday, especially for Tamara and Brian. I would like to pray for those of us left if the pink-slipped counselors jobs cannot be saved. There are only 23 counselors in the district and Hemet's kids would have access to only half of us. The students and parents would truly suffer.

I'd like to pray for my niece that she may be able to continue with her job as a teacher. I want to also pray for all the others that are in the same situation. We need these teachers and they need their jobs.

I'm Zach Gibson's Dad. Please know that I am praying for those who work in your schools and for the students affected by these layoffs. I'll ask that this request be added to our prayer list at Central Chrisitan Church in Jonesborough, TN.

I'd like to pray for Gayle Francis. She's a second grade teacher at (not sure of spelling) Estadillo Elementary in San Jacinto. She has been under so much stress with everything that's been going on and it's taking a toll on her health. Of course, I'd like to pray for all teachers in all districts.

I lift up all the teachers in Hemet Unified who have received pink slips. I pray you will find comfort in the Lord and know that he has a plan for your life.

I teach at Rancho Viejo Middle School. Though I did not receive a pink slip, 17 of my fellow teachers did receive one. an additional group of five first year temporary teachers also received notice. Our campus has the highest number of teachers in our district receiving RIFs or other notices. Please pray for stability. I would ask especially for pray for those whose spouses are already laid off in other professions. May the Lord speak to their hearts about his sufficiency.
