Preparation and Reflection

Preparation and Reflection

While I make my final preparations for speaking in Chicago this weekend, I had to stop and ask myself a couple questions. While God is hopefully helping me prepare my message…I know He’s ALWAYS wanting to PREPARE the MESSENGER. Whether at home with Community or sharing God’s Word with another church family, the bigger question is…am I ready? Not, is the message ready?

More and more I’m realizing that God’s message will have no problem coming through loud and clear if the messenger is truly prepared. And then I thought; what if you’re not a pastor? What if you don’t get up in front of a bunch of people and talk about God? Does a similar principle apply? What do you think? How about…ABSOLUTELY!

Many of us are praying for our friends and neighbors, looking for an opportunity to invite them to church or to share with them our story of life-change. At the same time, we should be praying for ourselves…asking God to PREPARE THE MESSENGER! He promised his followers that He’d give them the right words to say. We just needed to be connected to Him. So pray for that connection and then let Him work through you to say what HE wants to say through your life.

After all, it’s not the actual words that will draw someone close to God (although I love a good quote)…it’s the relationship that will make a difference. Your relationship with Him is where it all starts.

So before you ask for the right words, ask for the right heart. Let Him prepare the MESSENGER.

This is a great reminder. I think in today's society we all lose site. The church has fallen into a trap where people now believe they must have a degree in Bible to be able to "preach" the Gospel. Truthfully though, God could care less. He wants us to spread His message of love to everyone despite how many letters you may or may not have after your name. This series on love is great...and Zach was AWESOME!
