We also adopted a village!!!

We also adopted a village!!!

While our team here was able to "adopt" a child to support, I have good news for Community. WE ADOPTED A VILLAGE! It's called "Area #2". So let me introduce you...

The Mathare slums are basically divided into 10 villages. Our team was able to work in village or "area 2" most of the time in our week. So we asked if we could continue to come back and work in this same village and with this same school. There is another name for area 2, but I'll have to ask for that again. Even on our map, it just says area 2.

The school is less than one year old, but now with the new sponsorships has 101 children. I'll show you more of the school at another time, but this is a picture as we left the school to go out in the village.

On this day we went to do something the Community Health Evangelism (C.H.E.) team calls, "Bring the light". Basically they cut a hole about 10 inches square and cover it with nearly clear fiberglass to let light into their home. Then, as the workers are doing that, we sat inside and talked with the people about their need for God's light and explained what Jesus had done for them.

This light made a HUGE difference in these homes. Most of them are no more than 8X12 and extremely dark inside. The next picture is the team of Sam and I along with our C.H.E. workers going to the home of a man named David. He's the one in the picture. He wanted to make sure we were coming back again so he asked if he could write the day on his calendar when we could talk more. I told him I'd be back, but didn't know for sure the EXACT DATE! That's what he wanted. HA

I told you I'd show you more of the school later...and I will. But here's one picture from near David's home. CAN YOU FIND THE SCHOO??? Here's a hint...It's not a high rise block building!

You can start praying now for our next trip...and whether God wants YOU to go!!!!
