What I don't like about summer

What I don't like about summer

If the hot temps didn’t let you know it, we’re heading into Memorial Day weekend and...SUMMER. Schools have another week, but lets face it, Summer is here! I’ve told you before how much I like the hot weather and the summer months, but let me tell you what I don’t like about the next few months...

What gets me is how so many people use summer as an excuse to disconnect from the Body of Christ. I’m all for vacations and the occasional weekend get-a-ways, but we are still the church. You could be gone the entire summer, but that doesn't mean you stop being the church. So let me just encourage you with a few things:

1-Stay connected to God’s Word. Keep feeding on the rich food of God’s wisdom (and maybe even more so with relaxed times on your agenda).

2-Stay connected to your church family. You may be gone (and some of you will get to travel a lot this summer) but use the website to stay connected. Watch the weekend messages and interact with this blog. By the way, we’ll be adding a smart phone app this summer to help us all stay connected throughout the whole year!

3-Stay connected and invested financially. Many are using our online giving option on the website to set up a regular monthly contribution. Others have set up an auto-pay with their bank. This is increasingly popular, but also extremely helpful in the summer months as you may be out of the area a lot and unable to give while at a worship service.

4-Stay connected to the mission. You don’t have to be in town to be a great example to your family, your friends or those you meet at a beach somewhere amazing. You ARE the church. Never forget that!! Let Jesus shine through your life every day...vacation or not!

I LOVE THIS CHURCH! Now let’s go make a difference this summer by helping others make the most important connection they could ever make.
