For those of you out there who find yourself on the internet daily, I'm just curious where you spend your time.
I like to get the news headlines just so I'm "up" on current events, etc. I do check out the odd news -- it's amazing to me what people actually do! Fascinating.
I also check out movie and book reviews and get the quick version of who's mad at whom in politics, what's hot in entertainment, fashion and I even check out the sports sometimes. I do just about all my financial transactions online -- did you know that you can web bill pay your tithe to the church? Again, fascinating. Yes, of course, I shop, too. I also do a lot of research and reading that goes along with the many hats I wear everyday: mom, wife, diabetic, educator, worship leader, women's ministry leader. So much information; so little time.
One thing that I really enjoy and am trying to pursue more and more is seeking out where to find God on the internet. I'm reminded of this today when I received the following devotional in my inbox http://www.cmalliance.org/devotions/tozer/tozer.jsp Of all the things I encountered today, these thoughts on distractions by a guy who lived way before there was an interenet struck me as the most profound. I hope you'll read it a couple of times like I did today and hear God talking on the internet. -- Lisa

Tozer's 'whatever' list of distractions reminded me of this 'whatever' list from John Wesley's mother, Susanna. Nearly three hundred years after they were written these words are still jarring, forcing me to ask myself, "How do you spend your time?" Hosea 10:12
"Take this rule: whatever weakens your reason, impairs the tenderness of your conscience, obscures your sense of God, or takes off your relish of spiritual things; in short, whatever increases the strength and authority of your body over your mind, that thing is sin to you, however innocent it may be in itself."
-- Susanna Wesley (Letter, June 8, 1725)
well, Lisa, I finally got here, but am unable to access the site - I keep getting a message that says "internal server error", blah, blah, blah.... Any hints for what I'm doing wrong? Anybody? Call me or blog back - 837-8876. Thanks.
p.s. meant to say that I couldn't access the cmalliance site for Tozer.
Hey Ellen, so GLAD you're finally HERE! Can't figure out why the link isn't working for you cause I just did straight from the site myself. So try copy and pasting the link into your brower or typing it directly into the http line at the top of your page.
another way to find the Tozer blog woudl be to try a google search on A W Tozer and see if you can find it that way...
Let me know if that doesn't work for ya and I can just print you out a copy of the one I was referencing if you want. L
Thanks, Lisa. Copy and Paste. DUH! I might be an old dog but I can still learn new tricks. Love ya.
